Empowering Futures: FAET and FCC Collaborate for a Transformative Workshop in Musanze, Rwanda

The Forward Africa Education Trust (FAET) recently held a two-day training workshop for students and graduates, in collaboration with the Friends Career Center (FCC). This dynamic partnership aimed to introduce participants to the FCC's work, provide career guidance, and continue our partnership for a comprehensive mentorship program.

The workshop kicked off with an afternoon session where the FCC team presented an overview of their projects and activities. Participants were introduced to the facilitators and the mission of the FCC, setting the stage for an engaging and informative event. A key component of the first day was an interactive discussion with the graduates, where they shared their career journeys, current status, and the challenges they have faced and overcome.

One of the highlights of the first day was the mentorship panel discussion. Coordinated by the FCC, the panel featured FCC mentees who shared their personal experiences and insights, providing inspiration and practical advice to the other participants.

The second day of the workshop focused on career development and practical skills. A recruiter from an advertisement agency, led a session on navigating the job market. He shared his career journey, emphasizing the importance of volunteer work and finding a balance between career and passion. His presentation was particularly insightful as he discussed how he transitioned into his passion despite not initially studying for it. The session included mock interview exercises, giving participants a firsthand look at the interview process and valuable tips on how to succeed.

The collaboration between FAET and FCC was a resounding success, providing valuable mentorship and career guidance to students and graduates. The FCC team is delighted to witness the progress and enthusiasm of the mentees and looks forward to continuing their support in helping them achieve their career goals.
