At Friends Career Center, we believe that empowering women builds stronger communities, and a more inclusive future. Through the EmpowerHer Program, we support young single mothers and vulnerable women through vocational skills training, mentorship, entrepreneurship and career guidance.
We are excited to share that in March 2026, we welcomed Cohort 3 of the EmpowerHer Program, consisting of 11 young women who joined the Mwananshuti Kicukiro Vocational Training.

Since joining the programme, participants have been training in Culinary Arts and Hairdressing, and have now completed the first three months of their six-month journey. This midway milestone reflects their remarkable growth in skills, confidence, and determination as they continue preparing for future employment, entrepreneurship, and financial independence.
To date, participants have also benefited from two workshops covering digital communications, inner healing and emotional Resilience.
We are proud of every single one of them.
"Since I started studying Hairdressing, my skills and confidence have greatly improved. I can now create different hairstyles professionally and feel ready for my future." Jeanette Habaguhirwa
"Thank you for believing in me and giving me the chance to study Culinary Arts. I feel more confident every day and excited about my future." Umutoni Vanessa
To date, 30 women have benefited from the EmpowerHer Program across three cohorts, and we are proud to continue expanding opportunities for women's empowerment. This achievement reflects resilience, determination, and hope. We remain committed to supporting these women as they continue their journey toward a better future. Together, we are creating pathways to empowerment, self-reliance, and lasting change.
