Ubugeni Bwomora, meaning "Art That Heals," is a transformative program under Friends Career Career, dedicated to supporting youth living with HIV through art-based therapy. Designed to foster emotional resilience, self-expression, and healing, the initiative provides a safe space for vulnerable youth to process their experiences and reclaim hope.
The highlight of the first cohort was a 16-year-old girl who, along with her mother, faced abandonment after her father discovered their HIV status. Left in dire circumstances, she carried the heavy burden of trauma for years. During one of the sessions, with the guidance of a counselor, she found the courage to share her story. This powerful moment of vulnerability marked the beginning of her healing journey, as she started releasing her emotional weight and embracing her path toward self-empowerment.
Ubugeni Bwomora exemplifies the power of art in transforming lives, one story at a time.
